During August everyone had the opportunity to nominate for 101 of the Best Fantasy Books, and over the last two weeks everyone has been voting madly.  We received a staggering 20,000+ votes, and the results are now in:

We want to thank everyone that nominated and voted for books.  This list is truly amazing and every author on that list deserves credit for shaping this fantastic genre.  This list I’m sure will have readers reading for many years to come.

The fun isn’t over though!

Bella will be drawing and announcing the winner of the #1 book in the next few days, so keep your eyes peeled, as it will be announced here and over at A Bibliophile’s Bookshelf.

We are also working on the future of 101 Fantasy.  A Reading Challenge is definitely in the works, and your feedback is needed.  So comment and let us know where you’d like us to take 101 Fantasy!

So while Jo and I are currently tallying up the votes to find out the 101 Best Fantasy Books, we are asking you, our wonderful voters, to have some input into its future.

Some suggestions we have so far are:

  • Open nominations so we can make the list even longer
  • Start a Reading Challenge for 2010 incorporating the 101 Best Fantasy Books

So let’s here everyone’s suggestions.  Where should we take 101 Fantasy Books?

Nominations have officially closed! We received an outstanding 800+ nominations.

Now for two weeks, until September 14, 2009, you will be able to vote for your favorite book.  Click here to vote.

A Bibliophile’s Bookshelf will be hosting a giveaway for the #1 book.  If you want to enter the giveaway please enter your name & email into the “other” box on the voting form.  The winner will be announced on September 15.

Don’t forget we are still accepting review links from any book bloggers who have reviewed any of the nominated books. If you wish to submit your review to be posted when the voting is over, please email review links to 101fantasybooks[at]googlemail[dot]com. Thank you.

*Several people have asked the question: Can we vote for more than one book? Yes.  Please vote for your favorites, but don’t go overboard as we are trying to find the #1 and there can only be one #1.

Please answer the following five questions on your blog, explaining why with each, along with the button, and link to your post in the Mr Linky at the bottom. Please link to your actual post rather than just your blog home page; it will make it easier for us all to find your answers.

Here’s how it will work.
1. Nominate books. Leave a comment with books that you think should be on the list. If your list is really long feel free to email us at 101fantasybooks [at] googlemail [dot] com. Any books within the fantasy genre can be included. Whether it be a single book, a book in a series or an anthology. Think every single one of the Harry Potter books are so fabulous? Tell me and I will list all 7.
Don’t forget to give me both the author and the title.
Nominations close August 31, 2009.
2. Vote for books. Once the nominations are closed, you can vote for your favorite books.
3. Giveaway. This wouldn’t be fun without a giveaway. A Bibliophile’s Bookshelf will be giving away a copy of the #1 book. Keep an eye out for more details on this!
